Bleeding score conversion table

Modified bleeding score

The modified bleeding score is determined from the index teeth total score using the following equation:

$$ \text{% score} = { \text{total score} \times 100 \over \text{number of index teeth used} \times 4 \text{*}}$$

*the maximum total bleeding score per tooth

The table below can be used to quickly determine a modified bleeding score (in percentage) from the index teeth total score.

The conversion from total score to modified bleeding score in each column is based on the number of index teeth used to determine the total score. Where scores from all six index teeth (or appropriate substitutes) are combined to determine the total score, the column titled 6 should be used. Similarly, if one index tooth is missing and there is no appropriate substitute (i.e. one code N is assigned), the column titled 5 should be used, and so on.
